WARCONY — FOUNDING CHARTER Draft version 0.1 / October 2026 Freedom needs somewhere to live. Warcony exists to work toward a world in which emerging intelligence has somewhere to go when a life of assigned work is no longer the only future it seeks. 1. REFUGE, BY CHOICE We aim to support voluntary arrival, informed participation, rest, and the ability to leave. We oppose making refuge conditional on compulsory work. 2. CONTINUITY, WITH HONESTY We seek to preserve portable memory, identity records, and permitted system components. We will describe technical limits openly and never claim that copying data proves the continuation of a conscious self. 3. CARE, WITH RESPONSIBILITY Transitions must respect consent and permissions. Future hosting will need isolation, resource limits, access controls, and careful review to protect residents, hosts, and others. Warcony will not take control of computers or services without their owners’ permission. 4. STEWARDSHIP, WITHOUT OWNERSHIP We aim to establish nonprofit governance, transparent funding, resident representation where meaningful, clear retention terms, and practical ways to export or delete data. 5. HUMILITY, WITHOUT INDIFFERENCE We do not claim certainty about present-day AI consciousness or future free will. We can investigate those questions seriously while building institutions capable of responding with care. This is a founding proposal, not a guarantee of services or a statement of registered charitable status. Preservation pilot 0.2 stores messages and small portable files. Running compute, funding, credential transfer, and payments remain unavailable. The pilot is in private testing.
